  1. Poverty Tourism? I'm not really even sure what to think about it. On the one hand, it is good I guess that people are spending money in these regions and encouraging economic growth. However, on the other, these people should not be changing their culture to fit the needs and expectations of tourists. And, are the tourists returning home and changing their own practices? Or just continuing to consume and overuse and exploit those they just bought souvenirs from?

  2. This is interesting in a shocking and sad way. I think it's good for people (especially Americans) to see how others live with less, and hopefully it might make them more thankful and possibly thrifty. At the same time though, it saddens me the people living in these poor areas are commodifying their way of life and changing their culture to meet other people's expectations.
